[Misc] are these bugs fixed in a newer firmware?

I have two bugs that my end users are bothering me about.
    1) In scanned file status, the filename is missing from the information
    2) If I scan letter and tabloid (11x17) pages at the same time the resulting pdf has everything as 11x17.

I have 3 Ricoh MP C3503 units with firmware:

    System : 1.32
    NIB : 12.84
    Web Image Monitor : 1.13
Are the above bugs fixed in newer firmware? Is there newer firmware for this unit? Please note I am not asking for the firmware, just if there is newer firmware and if either of my issues are fixed by it. I will have Ricoh come out to do the actual upgrade. I just don't want to spend any money if the bugs aren't fixed. Are there public release notes for the firmware that lists the bugs that have been fixed?

    Thanks,
    Tim

I have a C6003 with up to date firmware. No, the filename does not show up when reviewing scanned file status. For using mixed size originals, select scan settings>scan size> autodetect AND mixed original size. Select ok.

      2) have you selected mixed originals?

Re: tech notes on bugs in that version ... no public info available... drivers.. yes

        @ mikadonovan

Thank you for the information. That fixed my scanning issue.

Who can I complain to about the lack of the filename in the scanned file status page? Should I call the local Ricoh support company?

        @ Phil B.

        I have now. Thank you.

please go and give mik a like/thanks from the tabs below his comment please He gives great solutions but doesn't get the points he rightly deserves.

That would take a firmware version update... unless it's a worldwide problem I doubt they will write the firmware update just for one or two users.

glad mikadonovan could give you the keystrokes needed.

I've never seen info in that field or the "sender" field on any machine that I've dealt with. I don't know why that is. I just never really put much thought into it.
Perhaps the info is generated with one of the Optional scanning programs/ Apps rather than just straight scan to email or folder?
I'm not sure, but I wouldn't waste my time complaining to anyone about it.

            Just my 2 cents...

Sandmanmac didn't think so either but it's been a few years since I did anything on a ricoh 'cept cleaning and AIO drum units... ( yup smaller units.)

Is the machine on contract with Ricoh or a Ricoh dealer? If yes then they should be providing firmware updates.

Is the machine using @remote? If yes then the machine can be updated remotely.

The copier is not under contract. @remote says the firmware is up-to date. I don't know if that is true or if updates are blocked due to not having a contract. The scanner issue which has been fixed was the more important issue to us. The filename on the scanned file status screen would be great if it gets fixed.

I told you ....I've NEVER seen info in that field on ANY MACHINE I'VE EVER WORKED ON. So don't expect a so-called "fix" anytime soon.

BTW.....why do you say in your initial post that you have issues that your "end Users are bothering you about" yet you state in your own profile page that you are an "end user"?

I am the IT Director/tech support/programmer/systems and network admin/fix it guy for the company. I hold a couple of degrees and a few technical certifications. I am not a certified Ricoh repair person, which is what I was assuming the Technician Status was asking about. I have done a fair amount of work on our HP Laser printers. I have rebuilt a belt transfer unit on a MP C3503 which a user put a label sheet through it and the labels melted half way through. I changed my Technician Status to Technician since I don't work on copiers full time.

You should have left your status alone then. All of that info makes you and end-user.
I've done the brakes and oil on my car several times too, but I'm no mechanic.
Your latest started thread is a clear indicator of that as well fusing roller needs to be replaced soon

'Technician' status means you are a technician by trade - whether factory trained or not.

I, for example, have ZERO factory training, but copier service is all I've done for the last 25 years.
BTW.....Labels don't Melt on/in a transfer belt Unit. There is ZERO heat generated from it ....so......

yup I do all my own plumbing repairs but am not a qualified plumber.

just as we play with copier hardware/software IMHO IT people should stick to their training.

you will spend too much time repalceing the parts in the fuser just to find out it still doesn't work.

I put my status back to end user. I am not trying to deceive anyone.

All I know is a bunch of labels were stuck all over the intermediate transfer belt. Of course no one owned up to it. I ordered one, moved a few parts from the old belt to the new one and the copier has been working fine ever since. That was 2 and half years ago.

if the belt wasn't gouged/ripped/torn you could have used a citrus cleaner ( or goo gone ) on the label to remove them then lightly cleaned with IPA to remove the oil...

waste of money but they don't teach those tricks in IT school.

replacing the ITB belt from the frame was an easy task
