Hi folks, hoping this will help some people in the future. Setting up some new Pro C8300 machines with the EB-35 Fiery. The new Fiery in combination with the op panel will let you remotely access Command Workstation from the Smart Op Panel by basically setting up a remote desktop connection to the Fierys desktop.
As with most Remote Desktop connections you put in the IP address of the computer (Fiery) and a user name and password, seems easy enough right?
Well, the new Fierys no longer come with the default password like previous Fiery's did, instead the default password is unique to each Fiery (I believe its the serial number of the machine but there's a guide on the EFI website detailing how to retrieve the password on a new Fiery) Once we changed the password for the Fiery we tested and could log in to the Fiery control panel on the machine but after troubleshooting for a good hour or so we weren't able to do the remote desktop to the Fiery, it kept giving us a connection error.
Turns out that the Windows account it uses to authenticate for remote desktop doesn't change its password from the default "serial number" password even if you change the Fiery login password. So once we logged in using the original "serial number" password we got in no problem.
Just wanted to pass the info along to anyone that might run into this issue in the future to hopefully save them some time troubleshooting.
