    MPC2504ex using the Twain driver . . .

    HI,

Placed this week an MPC2504ex, new customer.

He has specific software to bring in the scans.
He used to to this on an Kionica Minolta using the Twain driver.

Now, with the MPC2504 we can't get it to work, did a lot of adjustments, tests etc etc but using the twain driver downloaded from the Ricoh site it just gives no connection, installed the driver correct. Checked the firwall settings and other things.

Someone more experienced in using twain drivers on Ricoh machines ?? (Help)

    Thanks in advance,
    gr George

I had this exact issue, my customer upgraded an MP C3002 to an xx04 but the program they used to scan would only support the Twain driver.

The work around for me was to set up SMB scanning to folder then they open the scanned file using their scanning software.

From memory it had to be in tiff format for this to work for them.

Understand using to setup the SMB scanning.
But the situation here is that they want to work with the twain driver, is this possible using the twain driver?
      and how to configure . . .

Bit of a tricky 1 this...

The TWAIN driver for Ricoh machines might not be fully compatible with the software that the client is using. That might the 1 problem. I know some of my clients still use TWAIN scanning and it's a possibility that it might not scan 1 day.

This is what I normally check:

        1) Make sure the TWAIN driver is installed.

        2) Restart the computer. Last week I installed the TWAIN software on a computer and it didn't work till the computer was restarted.

        3) Check the settings on the software that the client is using to scan documents into. On their actual software look for scanner settings. Make sure that is set to the Ricoh.

        4) Just to check if the TWAIN software has been loaded properly, a few years ago my clients used to scan using MS WORD , on a new document hold ALT then press I,P,S . That should access the Ricoh scanner and allow scanning using TWAIN.

        Hope this helps.

Have you tried contacting the support people for the software your customer is using? Or at least reading their documentation on how to set up scanning?

Driver was updated about 2 months ago so if you are using the one on the CD that came with the C2504 you might want to download the newest.

The software they are using doesn't happen to be a 64 bit application? Ricoh TWAIN drivers will work on x64 editions of Windows but will not work with 64 bit applications.

There is also a network WIA (Windows Image Acquisition) scanner driver for network connections.

If you mean is it possible to use TWAIN to pull the document into a folder, YES. You will however have to use another TWAIN compatible software to do the pull scan. I happen to like Irfanview. Microsoft software does not always recognize TWAIN devices. Microsoft OS does not always automatically recognize TWAIN scanners but do recognize WIA scanners.
