The copier is just a refurbished/surplus one that was purchased for around USD650 four years ago. It ran perfectly fine that time, but from then until now, only 1,500 pages were printed (or 375pages/year). So one would be hesitant to spend USD500 for a new PCU.

With that low a usage you are not going to get it to maintain good image quality. That is just over 31 pages a month. That model should be doing 15K to 20K a month. You need to be running SP 2802 Developer Mixing 2 or 3 times a week to keep the toner properly mixed in with the developer. This will prevent the prints from having a dirty background. The toner bottle should be taken out, the cap put back on and the bottle shaken about once a week to keep the toner in the bottle from clumping.

And even so...how many times do you think you can just keep refurbishing the original pcdu?
At SOME stage they ALL have to be replaced....I think it's your time

Just meter the distance between bands and chech whitch roller (charge , drum etc) has this perimeter.

Thank you, will keep this in mind. There's nothing I can do about how often the copier will be used.

For those who are interested to know, I have tried swapping in just the developer section of the good PCU. Problem still persists.

On the other hand, when I used the bad copier unit's developer section on the good copier unit, there were no problems whatsoever.

So, the developer section must be good.

Will now try swapping the parts within the drum section and see how it goes.

Yes, this also came to mind. However, 11mm/3.14 is only approximately 3.5mm, and I don't think there are any rollers with such small diameter.

But I did notice the period wasn't constant, and wavers from 10 to 11mm, which could mean the period could actually be 21mm, giving a diameter of 6.69mm or approx 1/4". I haven't checked, but it could point to the cleaning roller in the drum section of the PCU. Will try swapping a good one in to see how it goes.
