Microsoft pushes a WSD port (& universal driver).

    Hello,
May this year bring you joy, love and succes.

A time ago someone on this site had this solution:

Control Panel (icon view)> Network and Sharing Center > Change advanced sharing settings (on left side of screen)
    Under: Private > Network discovery
There is a box that says "Turn on automatic setup of network connected devices." Uncheck that box and click "Save changes."

Is this a good (the best) solution?
Won't this setting cause other issues? F.i. other network devices not being seen at all?

    Thank you for your answer.

I just disable WSD print and WSD scan on the device via WIM (options are under network config settings)

Yes, that is what we recently are doing too.
But won't this WSD disabling cause issues with the Ricoh on the network?
It might be that this WSD is useful with other automatic network activity's, such as display in lists...

Can't recall what the 3rd option is called but I don't disable WSD for that and then the device still shows up in network places. Nobody has shouted at me yet because accounting software etc isn't working so can't say for certain it doesn't cause issues but it hasn't caused issues for the solutions we use...or none that I'm aware of anyway

          Accounting uses SNMP not WSD
turn it off if you wish.

Turn off WSD in Network Security, it can only be done via the WIM. I do this on ALL my machines.

This won't cause any other issues, as all other network connections use TCIP.

100% agree with you, and the others.
I have no idea what, if any, "upside" there is to WSD, but it made my life hell for some time, until I figured out a few years back how to turn it off.
Disabling is the first thing I do with every machine I get.

Since I'm only dealing with off lease machines, I do find it somewhat surprising at how many of them still have WSD enabled. I'd estimate 80% or more
