    Mp 4054 Random jams in J18, J19 and J20

    Hello guys

I have a Mp 4054 that makes random jams in j18 (Fusing Entrance), J19(Fusing Exit:On) and J20 (Paper Exit:On), already changed fusing sleeve, but customer complains random jams, i never saw it with my eyes, but they are logged in the Smc report... Cleaned the exit unit but custumer still reports random jams... Any ideas?

it happened to me on a 2503 (which has almost identical paper exit unit) to replace the paper exit unit, honestly I haven't had time to look at it yet, but I think it's some defective sensor, in my case it did it in duplexing, but if the other sensor was faulty, it would have done so in simplex

          Hi there!
My 2 cents on the paper-exit-unit. Had this issue on some machines. The parts were not formed out properly at the manufacturer, but installed by RICOH.
After some times they get curved through the heat from the fuser and jams apear randomly but often.
          Hope this will help.
          Greetings...

nothing, at this point you should try to replace the entire fuser unit with one of a machine that you know works, it could be the plastic guides that when they heat up start to deform, there was a bulletin on the 3003, I would not like to do you find the same thing, the paper, still whole or torn?

The problem is that i never saw a jam in this machine, but there are jams in the log and tje customer reports it... I already changed entire fuser unit from a working machine.. But next day the customer called for jams... At my last visit i printed some service manuals to test the machine... No jams!... I'm gone mad

Also check the door switches or "shake" the machine a bit while testing to see if they are ok. Back in the days door-jam related jams has been logged as "at power on" but that's not the case anymore, at least in some of the newer models we discovered that the units are capable of jamming without a proper logging in some scenarios.

Yes! In my case it was the drum picker finger.
