What is the likely cause for overtoning in the Savin 2535? Would the TD sensor or ID sensor be to blame? Any help appreciated, thank you.

The dv, I believe, is rated at 300k, but I've never let them go outside of the normal 150k PM range of the machine. Has the machine been completely PM'd?
When the dv is set up, make sure the add toner hole is covered or the toner bottle is out so absolutely no additional toner enters the dv assembly. Because they are such small units, it doesn't take much at all to get the mixture a little on the 'heavy' side and lead to overtoning. Watch your vsp, vsg and td/id readings in the machine after making copies and see if they change. It should be sitting around the 4.0v area for reference. The other thing is to make sure all of your settings are at factory spec.
Has someone been tweaking the machine to compensate for poor copy quality and now the machine is out of spec? That's something you'll have to double check.
Overtoning and undertoning can plague these machines because of the small dv assemblies, so check your settings, thoroughly clean and replace the dv, and set it up properly. And, everything copytech22 said is correct.Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Comptia A+, Comptia Network+Comment
