Static Control Components sells a stable cotton cloth you can use that I have not seen leave any fibers. I think Uninet makes it for them or you can get from Uninet.
Most anything that doesn't leave fibers behind.
For Glass Lube:
In the 80s there was a Canon NP270, NP400, etc..... Back then the document feeder was a full belt that ran the paper across the glass and out the other side. No Cut glass then.
This sounds unnatural but WD40 is can be used for cleaning and I would put a surface of this on the glass and buff it clean. You can put it on your rag and buff it in, then polish til clean. Try it sometime it fills the pores of the glass and gets rid of resistance. Don't need much. Not for the interior optics, use that dry cloth for any of that wiping down.
Nowadays I hardly have to worry about making slippery Glass.
