    IM C2000... SC204

I have a machine (IM C2000) that randomly (and Frequently) generates Sc204 errors (Polygon motor error) and then restarts, then carries on working i've followed the manual, replaced the polygon motor, checked laser unit connectors, BICU connectors, cleaned and inspected PTR unit and its still doing it. i will be returning with a harness from the BICU to the laser unit.
Any insight or advice will be appreciated thanks

did you input the values for the new polygon?

What type if any of power line protection do you have in place? Spikes, surges, sags, bad grounds and RF noise from other devices can cause error codes.

According to manual, there are no values to input, that only relates to a whole laser units, just requires a forced line adjustment after polygon mirror motor replacement....
Also i don't think there is an issue with the power supply, spikes, etc... only started happening recently, thinking about it not long after the fuser sleeve was replaced after the exit guide had cut into it, don't know if that's relevant

Man, this type of response grinds my gears!
It's NEVER a bad idea to install a surge supressor, and just FYI....I recently had a machine that had been in the same location for 3 years that started throwing Fuser codes every few days out of the blue. Replaced fuser. No change.
Installed surge supressor. No calls in 4 months.

And that surge suppressor was probably less expensive than the fuser.

Haha....In my case - absolutely Tim!
I get them for next to nothing from my machine wholesaler

What brand are you buying? Does it have a copier repair warranty?

Mostly ESP Digital QC brand units.
I would assume they offer pretty good warranties if I were buying new or direct, but they're coming out of a giant bin of used units that come in with their off lease machines

You should see the new analyzer model.
Can export to file. Send it to the to analyze.

First, check the power like Slim suggested.

Secondly the fact that it bombs a 204 and then resets itself could be an indication that you have a poor ground on the door frame and/or high voltage leak in the door someplace if you are not eating voltage spikes from the line voltage. You might also have a issue with the ground on the outlet as well. Older models had an issue that the ground wire between the door and the frame would break at some point. While this machine is likely too new to have that as an issue, it would not hurt to make sure something isn't pinching, etc.

I don't know that I have ever seen a 204 actually be a laser issue. Plenty of times it was a power issue or something not right on the door.

Where is this machine located? "In the middle of nowhere"
Or they use very powerfull machines?
