    Ricoh 3245c Paper Feed Problem

    Hi,

I need some help on this one:

My customer has a Ricoh 3245c that is jamming when feeding out of the paper trays. The only tray that does not jam is tray 1. Trays 2,3,& 4 jam as soon as you print. I have checked the feed rollers and they are all good. Basically it almost seems as soon the paper is about to be picked up, it jams. All the size settings have been checked, thoroughly cleaned.

Is there some sensor somewhere that is causing this? Or perhaps a board malfunction?

Let me know your thoughts, appreciate any help in advance!

I think that the bottom two drawers are a separate paper feed unit, and it was an option over the paper stand. That being the case, it should be on its own feed board.

With drawers two, three, and four, does the paper stop at the same place? Maybe a sensor flag sitting on drawer two is stuck, or it's not moving enough, or even broke. It should be sitting on the vertical section of the feed unit, where all of the paper for 2,3, and 4 will pass. This flag should also "relay" info to the machine about drawers two and three as well, so it will cause those three drawers to jam, but drawer one bypasses it.

When you check the jam log, which sensor(s) is it referring to? This will at least point you to where the machine thinks the problem is.

Check to see if this sensor is operating properly:

There should be a common sensor, such as this one, that affects drawers two, three, and four.

But, as I said earlier, check the jam codes to see which sensor(s) the machine is referring to.
