Black lever came out mpc 2003

    Hi everyone,

While loading paper into my copier (Ricoh mp c2003) a tiny black lever came out and now the machine doesn't recoginze the paper tray anymore. The copier is no longer under a maintenance contract, so any assistance would be greatly appreciated as I am not a technician myself. I found out where it came from, but I have no idea how to put it back in the right place. I've attached a picture of the black lever in question. Thank you in advance.

Pull all of the paper trays out of the machine. Look in there with a good flashlight. Look at the feed unit that still works to locate the proper position of the actuator. If it's tray 2 that came out, it's an easy fix, just put it back in there. Just very carefully snap at back into place. If it's tray 1, that's harder, you'll most likely have to remove the feed unit. I'd suggest don't bother fixing it if it's tray 1. Just use the other trays.

Thank you very much for your response. Unfortunately, it's tray 1. I do have some free time and would like to try to fix it anyway, as the machine only has two paper trays. Is there any guide available on how to remove the paper feed unit?

Step by step instructions are in the service manual.
