    MP 5054 Toner Cartridge Setting Error

    Hi Team,

    Running in to a headscratcher on this one. Ricoh MP 5054 says Toner Cartridge Setting Error all of a sudden. All OEM Parts & Consumables only. PM was recently completed on the Drum and Fuser, no under toning issues.

    When the error message came, I thought maybe there was an issue with the bottle itself. Added the new toner and message went away for a few hours. Message came back and not sure what to do. If I put the Original toner bottle back in, message goes away for a short while and then comes back.

    I don't think it is limited to number of copies, sat at customer for at least an hour while they were printing. Wondering if it is an issue when machine can't recover from sleep or goes into process control.
    If it works, don't touch it.

    toner cartridge is either pushing out away from springs that make contact with toner sensor on cartridge or could be they are dirty and need to be clean . There is a bulletin about change spring that holds toner bottle in place.

          I believe the bulletin you are referring to was on the METIS.

            Remove the the transfer roller and clean the ID sensor..It maybe covered with toner. If not,get ready to replace the hopper unit. Not fun the first time around but doable.

              Really dumb question here but when the new PCDU was fitted the tech didn't happen to leave the dev bung in it did he?
              How do I know this?
              That's right...i did this like an idiot once and that was the symptom.
              Removed the bung...toned the dev back up and ran away quickly.
