    Mp4054 scanner freezing

    Hi all.
I just left a call where the machine is working fine with no errors, except when trying to scan.
The customer only scans to folders.
It shows 'processing' ,and stays that way and the screen is frozen so you can't switch modes or cancel, etc. It has to be rebooted.
I Feel like it could be an HDD issue and of course I didn't have another one with me, so I tried to reformat it on the machine, and after I pressed 'execute', the same thing happened where it locked up and never completed. I tried disconnecting, rebooting, and then rebooting with the HDD re-connected again, and while it did say 'Hard disk replaced', it never formatted it.
So I'm on my way back to my shop to get an HDD and thought I'd post this issue in case anyone had some further advice on this?
It's a new one for me.
    Thanks in advance!

if, as you say, it can't format it and/or the machine stalls anyway, it's 100% the HDD!...I'm changing a lot of them this month, maybe it's the heat that gave it the final shot(?)

They don't by chance have OCR, embedded text data. scan enabled as their default?

        Thanks guys!
And you're right, Luca, I replaced the HDD and all is well.
I just thought I'd reach out beforehand for a little extra insight if there was any

I'm sorry, but unfortunately for some strange reason, I no longer receive response notifications

            No apology required Luca.
I think that's because it seems we have to manually select "subscribe" at the top of each thread we reply together than being automatically subscribed. This is one feature I don't like about the new site, and there is also no indicator on the main page for the threads that you are subscribed to

Some setting in your profile got changed by the update. If you are having a problem, report it is Site Feedback and Aneurysm will take care of it. He apparently has retired and is now here daily.

                Thanks Tim.
Seems that maybe I should have checked my user settings some time ago. Automatic Subscriptions was turned off...OOPS!
I feel like one of my end users that I'm always complaining about ?
