Ricoh SP C831 random SC 220-01

Hi, Working on a SP C831 to get rid of SC 220-01 and -04 , popping up randomly during print jobs once or twice a day and it has been two more than a month , costumer has to restart and reprint .

According to service manual and Goose Guide error is related to BK and Ye Laser synchronization detection.

Laser was replaced and it still pops up randomly .
PCDU's are almost new.
harness carefully checked .

in SC history few of SC 990 is also logged.

Remedy 2 is BICU according to SM but as this is happening randomly not sure it will solve the issue.

Random could be a cold solder joint n the BICU. If you have the Point to point check to see what connector and pin number the sync detectors connect to.

Thank you Slimslob for pointing to right direction , yes i do have a Point to Point and i guess that is what is happening exactly in this case.

i have also replaced drivers and checked from each pc yesterday , they are mostly printing AutoCAD and PDF ,will do the firmware also today .

will keep you posted .

On older RICOH models it could be polygonal motor, but I don't know for new ones.

Yes, in Black & White Machines it still belongs to Ploygon Mirror Motor, in color devices it is related to Laser sync detector 1-2-3-4 for each color and then different for leading edge and trailing edge.

try checking the small ground plates around the itb belt, they often create electrical noise and strange problems of this type, good idea its try another itb unit for test....and while you're at it, check the door switches.

Thank you for the input, Sure i will check and report in my next visit.
also planning to replace the door switches which could be contaminated as i checked the installation date which is 2017 or may be the relay in power supply which engages the 5v power to safety switches and laser.
