    [Misc] Generic: one-way pulleys/bearings - cleaning/oil/grease

just clean the pulley and the shaft with alcohol or apply some wd40 or some grease? what is your opinion/experience? E.g. in the description of maintainance of MPC2500 fusing unit Ricoh says: "no grease to the shaft where one-way pulley will be placed on"

Let's see, WD40 or grease in or near a fusing? It will turn to lacquer and cause all sorts of problems. Grease in a one-way pulley or on the shaft will turn it in to a zero-way pulley.

no type of grease or lubricant should be added, after a while it can alter their functioning, it is possible to wash them with alcohol and blow them with air, and at most if the shaft is used a lot a very light pass with 400-500 sandpaper soaked in alcohol or water.

Sorry for bringing up an old thread but i came across "one-way bearing oil" and want to hear your opinion about such things. OK, near the fusing unit one-way bearings should run dry and the shaft is also a spare part there. But what do you think about a drop of something like " Hudy One-Way Bearing Oil" ( https://www.rcmodelstore.com/en/oli-...aring-oil.html) e. g. in the feed components´ one-way bearings where the shaft is not supposed to be replaced?

based on the numerous tests I have done, putting oil or any lubricant, at first it works well, then after a while everything starts to get clogged and the bearing rollers do not slide well in the seat.
I obtained the best functioning and durability by cleaning them with alcohol and lightly sanding the axis, in fact I would say that there are units that have been working for a few years around and have not given any more problems.
of course if you change the entire axis and bearings with new parts you will obtain maximum reliability over time.

.....I would like to add that I have dealt with RC car models many years ago, let's say that the working conditions of those bearings are not exactly the same as a photocopier, not to mention that an RC model is dismantled and cleaned from top to bottom much more often, compared to a paper feed station, for example

Lubricants of any type, even ones clock oil and like Singer sewing machine oil, will attract dust and in a copier toner.
