MP301 - new PCU, but "Replace PCU" alert remains in web console

Originally replied to this thread: https://www.copytechnet.com/forum/te...in-web-console

I am an IT tech at a small law firm. I replaced my PCU in January and this message is still up. I didnt know until know I could reset it, but I didnt know it was tied to page count. We are now at 70328. Should I replace it again, or is it safe to reset and it will tell me when it goes bad again?

Thank you again, and I apologize for replying to the previous thread.

How many total pages have been printed? Is it still showing replace PCU or has it just come back on again. Recommended replacement is 45K. If you are pushing it to or above its recommended target of 5K maximum a month, 45 K would be 9 months or less. Also 45 K would be about 5 and a half toner bottles.

One other thing, if it does not get heave usage but does a lot of 1 and 2 pages jobs, PM distance might be reached long before 45K. Also being a law firm you may do a lot of legal size, 8.5X14, documents. 11 legal size documents is equivalent to 14 letter size documents.

If the print quality is good you can simply reset the PCDU PM counter in SP mode 7.

The 45k is the PCDU & 90k is the fuser.

The PCU can be set in service mode to either be replaced by a technician or by a user. It may be set in tech mode so that it's not resetting the PM count or intialising the developer.
