    Ricoh Mp2553 not fusing

    Hello everybody

I have a bit of a strange problem. I have a Ricoh Mp2553 first few prints in the morning, let's say the first 2 or 3 don't fuse properly. Thereafter it's fine.

I've turned on fuser idling and increased fusing temperature to 185 from the normal 165, still has the same problem.

Thanks in advance for any assistance

      ^^ +1 on this! ^^

Had an MP 301 at a plumbing shop, and they put in cheap aftermarket toner that would fuse very poorly, and ended up having to "purge" the bad toner out of the dev. unit with good toner.
Just had to load the correct OEM toner, and then ran like 100 skyshots, and after that everything was fine.

      Things to check:
Make sure your Hot Roller isn't coated with toner. Have also seen a case where the wrong hot roller was installed. Slightly Thicker Roller material that took longer to get up to heat.
Make sure that the press roller pressure arms are working properly.
Make sure that your lamps in the unit are operating correctly.
      Firmware up to date?
What's the Total count for that fusing unit? 120k is the "expected yield" for Hot roller and Press roller.

What's the paper in the tray like? I've seen damp paper in humid environments cause all kinds of quality issues in environments where people turn off the AC overnight. Once the office gets to a comfortable level, the problem would go away.

This is where I'd start investigating. Bring some fresh paper and swap it out before printing out the first page of the day and see what happens.

Thanks everyone. All of these seem like possible solutions.

The machine does have a generic upper fuser roller in it. It is a brand new 1. Made by Icon. Which was supposed to be 1of the better generic versions. I have ordered a brand new original 1 from ricoh.

              Toner is also generic.

Machine is in an enclosed office. They have air-conditioning but not much "fresh air" ventilation. I did suspect a build up of moisture might be causing a problem as well.

              Thanks everyone.

Generic toner AND hot roller is a recipe for disaster.

In the future, you may want to disclose that information in the initial post. Saves a lot of time.

Sorry about that. You right I should have mentioned it earlier.

                      Hello everyone. Just an update

                      Problem seems to be solved.
Customer was told to change from a cheap, poor quality paper to a good quality paper. This made a major difference. The better paper seems to deals better with moisture and humidity.
On the technical side of things we changed the hot roller and bearings with brand new originals.
Machine seems to be working fine now. It's been over week since the changes .

Thank you everyone for your help.
