    Ricoh Cerner Printing Issue

we have a device that working with CERNER ( SP5300) . We swapped it out with a P800 and the jobs will not print out on tray 2. Both have the same amount of trays Bypass,

We don't want to mess with the Tray Parameters ( PS) or (PCL) because everything was working on the P800

This is the command they are using

change the form library in Device Viewer,

    postscript tray selection command: <</MediaPosition 1 /TraySwitch false>> setpagedevice

My question is this correct Form Library to have it print out on Tray 2 . Apparently they said Tray 1 is really tray 2 for this model . This command is working fine on another P800 we are being told.

I have mirrored another P800 and made sure all the settings match . What I am being told happens is it blinks like it sees the job coming in but nothing prints.

What initially was happening was it would print out on tray 1 . I turned off autoswitch and now nothing . I turned off AutoSwitch trays due to it being off on the working P800

Did you install the correct driver?

Are they using an industry specific software where the printer types are set by the software? The client-server software they used was setup to use HP printers. The order of the numbering of the paper trays was not the same as for the Aficio 551 we installed. For the HP4000 the bypass tray was tray 1. Add 1 to the number for the Ricoh trays and we got the number to use with the HP driver

They claim that they do not use drivers

We do not use drivers, we send raw postscript to the printer over port 9100. Can you please engage us with a ricoh engineer familiar with postscript module available with these printers.

The tray selection command used is <</MediaPosition 2 /TraySwitch false>> setpagedevice.

Does the P800 support PDF direct? If not, they cannot just send raw to the IP address regardless of the port.

I hate these type of scenarios where they themselves don't really know the backend setup and system. I would most probably first try turn off auto continue and send job and see if it gives you an idea at the panel what paper type\size it's looking for. If that doesn't help I would swap IP addresses with working P800 and see if it behaves the same. If it does then you know there is some backend difference in setup. I would then use tray mapping for PS. I would quickly try and guess the code by putting 1 and 2 next to tray 2 in PS tray mapping save and test. If it doesn't work change to 3 & 4 save and test and continue (5&6 ect) until it works. Good luck

I usually capture the prn file by enabling card capture in printer SP (save the print job to sd card) and then can quickly test using lpr from command prompt

i am not familiar with this model. but i will throw it out there. does it require a PS card? i know some of the newer ones are getting away from requiring the need for the sd card.

try to put in [off] "delete job with error", and check that IPP port its "enable" on the wim printer settings...this last one gave me the same symptom that you described, its happened to me weeks ago, on a mp3353 with postscript driver on linux server...and let us know.
