Hello, I have a Ricoh Aficio MP 2852sp that I was updating with the Ricoh Firmware Update Tool, but it encountered an error. Now, when I turn the MP 2852sp off and on, it always displays a message saying it is waiting for firmware update data. Even if I restart the firmware tool, it still says, "Rescue State. Please contact service."

MP 2852 uses an SD card, not USB. SD card must be 2MB or smaller, and even some 2MB won't work. Minitool Partition Wizard can be used to create a small partition on a larger SD card.Comment

I downloaded the firmware, created the rom data folder and inserted the files sent by printerfirmware, removed the network cable from the copier and turned it on but no update starts other than the one from the ethernet cable. I used a 4GB SD card formatted fat32. Where am I wrong?Comment

I used a 4GB SD card formatted fat32. Where am I wrong?- 4GB might be too large
- Microsoft's builtin format utility may not work correctly, OS on the 2853 is based on Unix
- drbing's Youtube video is missing a step
Ricoh used to recommend the Panasonic Memory Card Formatter and used to provide a link to download. https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/for...dows-download/
Under the romdata folder you need to create a folder named D122 and put the firmware in the D122 folder.

There are a few possible reasons all having to do with the age of the 2853.=- 4GB might be too large
