[Error Code] "Booklet/Half Fold is not available with the settings." error is driving me mad.

Greetings. Self-admitted newb here. Any help is greatly welcomed.

    Here are my specs.

    Ricoh IMC2500
    3270 Booklet Finisher
Mac OSX 15.1.1 (tried on OS 12 and same result)

Printing using preview and mac osx's printer settings
correct driver from website of Ricoh is installed

    Problem:

I am attempting to print a 12 by 18 booklet, saddle stitched with half folding. Everytime I try I get the error above.
I looked at the manual it only refers you to elsewhere in the manual without really describing the issue or the remedy.

I've tried on multiple trays including the bypass. I've tried in Preview and Acrobat.
The manual confirms that this situation (ie paper size etc..) is possible with my equipment, it simply won't do it.

Is that the only finisher function that you cannot use? Have you tried 11X17? The booklet stapler portion might not be able to handle anything larger than 11X17.

I managed to print one 11 by 17 yesterday, but today it is giving me that same message as well.
I confirmed with the company who sold me the unit (and the manual) that I am set up to do 12 by 18 saddles.

how many pages are you trying to saddle stitch? and what is the weight of the paper? it is very possible the machine won't do it. i have a ricoh printer installed at a customers. when you sent a print job, the blue light flashes. but then it stops flashing and nothing prints. because it knows it is not capable of doing what the print job is trying to tell it to do.

I've tried a variety of pages from 2 to like 18, where pages = the amount of paper so the PDF would be x4 pages
