    IM C4510 envelopes ghosting

I have a machine that is ghosting on envelopes when printing. I feel like it is a settings issue. I tried my own 20# COM10 and their 24# COM10 and copied on to them with no issues. Every time the customer would print, it would ghost. Previous tech replaced fusing unit and adjusted fusing temp by 5. I concentrated on settings, and I set the bypass tray to Driver/Command, envelope, and heavy4. I was able to get some to go through without ghosting, but it came back.

There is another bulletin for Microsoft Word Mailings. Is that just Microsoft Word? It says to set tray to MACHINE SETTINGS and paper type to Recycled. Has anyone tried this?

Customer thinks it is something with the process area, but I find that hard to believe since I have only witnessed it on printing and not copying.

    Any help would be appreciated.

By ghosting are you meaning off setting where the same text/image is faintly printed further down the page? That can be either fusing or PCU. The diameter of the device causing it will determine how far it is offset. You can also open a door while the paper is going through the PTR to check if it exists on the ITB.

do you want to solve this problem 100%?...put over the thick setting, also from speed to quality.

The paper will move through the fuser more slowly, giving the toner time to set properly even on thicker media....and restore the sp temperature settings by default

Slimslob - It is the same image down the page. I did not really look into that possibility. I would think the ghosting from the PCU would show itself on other media, such as plain paper. I can definitely look into it. It only seems to occur when printing and not copying. I tri-folded a counter sheet with the large black arrow and other bold lines and copied it onto envelopes. No issue seen. Just when she printed the envelope. I feel the PCU ghosting would not depend on media used.

Luca72 - I will also look into her print driver and give it a try.

Thank you both for your ideas and I will give them a try.

I am guessing typo from your end, PCU being mentioned instead of the Fusing Unit.

Do they actually have mailing list that they import from excel etc or do they manually type the mailing address everytime?

if they manually type the mailing address then make them a template from mailings. ( Open mailings and after inputting the info press add to document).

Word will make an envelope template and then an extra page ( bug for some reason). With the template created, go to printer preferences from the print menu on word and ensure to select minimum thick 2 and print quality as luca72 showed.

Ask them to store there envelopes away from AC area and also good practice to not print envelopes first thing in the morning without fuser warmup.

If it works, don't touch it.
