    IMC400 Transfer Units

Anyone else had the transfer units on these 400's go prematurely at about 30/40k(cleaning out the toner build up in the cln assy dont help) as I seem have a few on the go atm plus the PCDU's seem to die on their arses as well . Fuser seems ok though touch wood.

It's not the ITB, it happened to me, it's the pcdu, specifically the charging roller that gets contaminated due to the residues of the wax bar, and leaves streaks, you have to disassemble them, wash the roller, clean the drum surface with rag and alcool, and file the wax bar

Yeah thanks I know about the pcdu failure thingy but the cln unit on the trans assy is failing like the old mpc307's but they used todo 120k easy.

I say this because we replaced it once (all colors skid marks) with a new original Ricoh one, paid a madness, and after two weeks the customer had the same problem, in the end had all the charge rollers "dirty waxed"....despite low counters

Check the filter on right side at rear, these can get clogged up in dusty environments, stops air flow around the device and causes the toner to clump up in the transfer cleaning unit.

We only have IMC300 but I think the ITB/issues are known also from the previous models. Wouldn't say it's a big problem though since it mainly affects customers with very dusty papers / dirty envireoments. PCUs are also running fine with the IMC300 - perhaps they don't like the faster process speed of the IMC400.

they are those damned wax bars that dirty everything, at the first opportunity, from some customer where it is possible to do so, I will try to remove them, I want to see what happens, they say that the pcu should last less, but honestly I don't believe much of what Ricoh says

We often see ITB get clogged up in the cleaning unit part. Very annoying because it can happen every 30k but the belt itself is absolutely fine. We have a customers with dogs in the office, they seem to have it happen often, often dog hair inside the actual cleaning unit clogging up with toner which causes the buildup that then starts dropping on transfer roller and pages get that black scuff mark on it.

Quite possible since airborne pet fur can be attracted to a charged surface like a drum or ITB.
