    mp c4504ex fax confirmation

Machine is set to print faxes out...fax confirmation goes into memory, it doesn't print out.

Can't figure out why, any ideas?

I have a 4504 right next to it, same bit switch configuration, and it prints out just fine

....try to reset fax application via SP 801-fax.....or swap the fax board to test

are you referring to 5-801? I did that for the fax application already

so if you have already tried to reset, since you are lucky enough to have two identical machines, set in the same way (I assume that this is the case)...I would try to invert the fax cards.

the two machines, have a same firmware version? ...try to overwrite, maybe are corrupted module? ...nothing else comes to mind

Well one is a 4504ex and the other is 4504...don't know if that makes a difference for the fax section.

You're saying just swap fax units? I could try that

the "ex" changes that it has the postscript emulator built in, and the controller is different, but the fax card I think 99% is the same .... anyway, first follow the firmware advice that I wrote to you before (check version difference from one and other+overwrite same version to assicurate from possible bug)...

don't do both step test, at the same time! so as to possibly have a precision feedback in case of success

Are you referring to the bit switch setting in Fax SP or in User Tools - Fax Function - Initial Settings?

Are the security setting exactly the same on both machines as Auto Confirmation will be disable with certain security settings.

I'm referring to bit switch in user tools. Which one should I look for in fax SP?

I have not looked at security settings, will do.

You might check fax SP mode printer switch 02, bits 0 through 4. It is possible to disable individual trays for printing of faxes AND reports. Long shot.

In reception settings do you have it specific to Print and not store in memory? IN the MP C4504EX find this under reception settings and not parameters.
If it works, don't touch it.

                      Re: mp c4504ex fax confirmation

After trying many different things, I just went ahead and swapped out the fax unit with a new one and voila...fax confirmation.

I still feel it has to be a simple bit switch or setting that I missed but at this point it was simpler to swap units and I should've done that a lot sooner.
