His attitude probably pissed off whatever dealer he tried to contact. Contrary to the false impression he got form where ever, we are here to assist other technicians, head in their ass end users.

Just wait, it may be 20 years form now be you will find out exactly what I am talking about. There is a difference between key operator training, which actually be the job of the sales department but they always push it off on the service tech, and an untrained end user trying to repair something that if done wrong will crater the machine. If a service tech is doing proper preventive maintenance the up time for the equipment is greatly enhanced. More than likely that end user was offered a maintenance contract when the machines were first delivered, if not the dealer was an idiot, and he declined saying it was too expensive. Did you actually read what he said about the dealer(s) he contacted.

Famous last words but I do admire your can-do attitude.

I thought I would add to this thread in case anybody visits it in future with this problem. I was sick of this part breaking in our machine resulting in downtime and lost revenue, so designed up a replacement to be made in Aluminium 7075, so should be much more durable. We had it made at PCBWay and a technician tested and confirmed it fits fine in the Ricoh C7100X. I've shared it on PCBWay Community Projects if you wish to order your own replacements.

Wow, great idea. The original plastic piece is time consuming to replace and I've done a lot of them.

The key to keeping them from getting broken is customer training. Do not turn the toner bottle by hand when replacing toner.
