    Ricoh wireless print issue

    Howdy folks,

99% this is not a copier issue but the customer needs help and im just going on a hope some body has seen this.

Customer has two Ricohs, IM C3500 and MP 4055. Firmware is up to date. Both machines are plugged into their network switch. Computers that are wired print fine.

They use Cisco Meraki access points. Devices on the wireless can hit the webpage of these machines and ping them but most of the time they are showing offline when you try to print.

Customer IT has verified they have the correct PCL6 print driver and it's not on a WSD port. There is no print server. Machines are printing directly to the copier with a local driver installed.

Has anybody seen this before or have any ideas?

I haven't worked with those particular models but I have experienced something similar with different models.

I've found that the issue arises from the network switch / wireless access point. I would say try a different switch if possible or an individual wireless adapter for the machine only.

        Hope this helps.

AS bsm2 said it could be a SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) coupled with network speed. When a driver sends a SNMP request to a device and does not get a response back in a timely fashion, the driver assumes that the device is OFF

Thanks for all the replies, unfortunately nothing has resolved this. One of our install guys asked if the 2g and 5g is being mixed on the same SSID. He's run into alot of issues on SHAW routers doing that and got the customer to create a separate SSID for each band. We will see if this does anything.

I wonder if installing a IEEE 802.11a/g/n Interface Unit Type M19 option in the machine would help.
fix the customer first then fix the machine... its simple and makes life more easy.

Most likely not and would be a huge waste of money.

Checked back with the customer. They found something. I asked exactly what the fix was and he said the AP was set as a public network and not a private. Not sure why it could still ping. Anyways sounds like it's fixed.

                    Thanks for the replies.

It could be this. Then look into the sharing on the network as well. Try disabling the firewall. Assign a remote ip to the MFP.
