On my Konicas when I suspect HDD I make it unset in service mode followed by physical removal of data and power cables from HDD just to make triple sure machine has no any clue about HDD
In that process I usually lose more time to remove covers over HDD than other operations.

Disconnect any and all features in the back, including memory card(s), fax, HDD, etc. Yes you lose certain functions, but all you are looking for at that point is to see if that code goes away.

Disconnecting only the power to the HDD will do nothing, in fact, it will only cause a problem.

Unplugging the data cable, on the other hand, will remove it from the equation completely, and may allow the machine to boot.

Also might be a faulty control panel. Try swapping with another

From my experiences this code is 1 of these :

    1) RAM
    2) Hard drive
    3) Controller unit

I would say try changing the RAM and Hard drive with 1s that you know are working before changing the controller unit.

Also you can try (if you don't have another controller) disconnecting the controller unit and starting up (yes I know this is unorthodox) with the back covers off keep an eye out for lights and fans that may or may not come on.

Also check for power coming into the controller unit .

All the best friend. Hope this helps.

Just to check: is the highlighted cable the one that connects the opeartion panel to the controller board? I cannot seem to find any other cable harness that connects to the controller board.

I'm betting you will need a new control board. My experience with the 672 is almost always that, especially if you have already checked the DIMM's, HDD, ect....... Does it have a fax board? If so try to remove that and reboot.

    Good luck!
