[Error Code] MP C4504 SC220-04

I had a metis with sc 220-04.. laser sync error, I could not recover it so ordered a new laser unit, which I installed following manual... the error code has gone but it doesn't put down magenta toner, all the other colours are fine, as is the magenta dev, drum and itb units, which are all turning but still no sign of magenta, no error codes, will just reproduce everything but magenta... do i have a defective laser unit ???

I removed all the packaging, as far as i'm aware there was no magenta issues prior to original sc220

Usually I'd say that the self diagnostic would put out another SC if the new laser is faulty. Can you perform the music calibrations with postive results? I guess you already tried and re-connect all involving cables/connections?

MUSIC failed and looking at results it failed on magenta.. 11591111, if i remember correctly

checked and double checked connectors, after noticing missing magenta put in old laser which again threw up sc220-04, so put in new one again to find it working with no magenta

I found it odd there was no sc codes.

Did you correctly follow the new laser replacement procedure in the SP manual ?

Yes i did, it wasn't complicated however the laser unit did come with a sheet of codes to set up as well, which was not mentioned in the manual, so i did that first.

The manual stated download new laser unit data which i did, then talks about registration if its required

The printer sp test page comes out perfectly but just with yellow, cyan and black.. no sign of magenta

THat is telling me that there was a problem with reading the magenta ID patches. There is a possibility that the magenta shield glass is blocked by something, or one of the magenta mirrors in the laser unit is out of position or missing.

Do test pattern prints ,I use 2dot independant pattern ,use single colour for all colours if the MYK patterns are fine ,the problem is the Magenta PCU or the magenta ITB roller is not making enough pressure on the belt-try reforming the ITB lift gear frame on the rear ,had the bracket slightly deform causing your problem.

Sounds to me like a connection issue.

Try swapping the wiring loom from the old laser unit to the new.

You could also swap the polygon mirror however I suspect thats the part causing your original SC220.

not resolved yet but an update..... gone in with a second laser unit which reproduces magenta but now has cyan missing !!!!!

have fitted a laser unit from another machine onsite and that reproduces all of the colours correctly

don't know whats going on but have ordered a third laser unit

just an update...... gone in with the third laser unit, that worked fine, machine now working... Hurahhhh !!
