MP 6002 laser motor replacement adjustments

Had to replace the laser motor on MP6002. To make adjustments for the new laser motor, the manual says to read the label on the LD unit to enter the numbers using SP2115(main scan beam pitch). I cannot find any labels which contain the numbers refered to on the LD unit nor any other component of the laser unit/block/lens, etc. Scoured the manual...no help.

Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks

Then you do not have a new genuine Ricoh LD. With a new LD there should be a label packaged with it, not on it. If you threw it out, go search the garbage. If it is a used LD you have to get the information from the donor machine.

What did you change? Polygon motor or laser diode?

Changed the polygon motor not the LD unit. New, OEM from Ricoh. The LD unit in the machine has no label with what the manual states to look for:
"The first line on the label is the machine number.  The second line on the label includes three numbers separated by slashes. Reading from left to right, these are the correct settings for SP2115 (Main Scan Beam Pitch Adjustment) 001 to 005."'
The original issue was thin lines running top to bottom on letter size; dozens of them all across the page. After replacing the polygon motor they looked good for the most part but maybe two out of 10 will have one or two lines now. The lines are random, not always in the same place. The image is not skewed, registration is good and fonts are sharp.

from the defect you described, it could be an electrical disturbance, trivially caused by the blocking of the front door switches (burned) or even by the transfer unit that discharges somewhere (classic defect on many models, disturbs the laser)
the door switches also act as a safety device to deactivate the laser via the connection board (PCB1)

if it happened to me, I would try to replace in order:
            -front switch door
            -transfer unit (assy.)
            -laser motor sincronization board (PCB3)
            -IPU (PCB2) (but I don't think so)
            Attached Files

Entering the values for SP2115 only needs to be done when you replace the Laser Diode unit, not the polygon mirror motor.

Did the original problem you had occur only during copying, only when printing from a computer or both. The answer to that will help determine which portion of the electronics is where the problem lies.

Thanks for that info luca...good to know. Good question slimslob, I'm not sure. I can't check with the customer as they are not in today. When I was working on it, it produced lines when copying from the glass and also when printing out a pcl/config report (so no optics involved).

if you try to replace the door switch block, be careful not to pull it too far from its seat!... behind here the damned ones have put a harness that is too short, if you pull it a connector inside comes off at the top, on the left side, and it is a mess to reconnect it, I had to make space , and use all my skill with a spring clip and a long screwdriver, otherwise the machine goes to SC maybe 465 if I remember correctly, it took several attempts, the alternative is to separate the scanner block from the rest of the machine to fix it, nothing too difficult, but you would waste a lot of time

Just a follow up. Got busy with other copiers/customers, hadn't heard from or checked on the MP6002 issue but swung by there yesterday. Was pleasantly surprised that all was doing well, no lines when printing or copying. Don't know how or why the remaining lines went away...just happy they did, and hopefully they don't return! Thanks to all who took time to help.

                        maybe it's some "meteopathic" component...lol

Haha, maybe! Not sure if that applies to me or the copier...probably me lol
