[Error Code] MPC4501 SC792 Messeage - Remove BU

    Dear Forum,
I've got an used und dusty Ricoh Aficio MPC4501 Machine for Servicing. The machine shows SC 792 (Problem with feeder unit), anyhow there is no feeder. I already want to solve the problem by unmount the Bridge Unit, see attachment. I followed the instructions from this Link (similar machine)

Two mentioned screws are removed (see pictures attached), but the BU is still fixed, is there somewhere a hidden mechanism or do I need just force?
Does remove the BU solve the SC792 message?

My second problem is to print from removable Media. I used different branded USB memory (2 - 16 GB) with FAT16/FAT32, activated partition, different formatter software also with MBR set. The memory stick is recognized with message (incompatible USB device). Is there any hint how to print from USB Media?

    Sincerely and warm greetings

    Lorenz

To start off that YouTube video is useless as it is for the Cxx03 series models not the C4501. To remove the bridge unit the bracket that the circled screw in the middle image has to be removed from the frame. To do that requires removing the front cover over the exit section. The bridge unit installation portion of the service manual shows how to remove the cover. And yes removing the bridge unit will correct the problem as SC792 is finisher not connected. If they don't have a finisher you must remove the bridge unit. You will have to come up with a method of keeping the paper from exiting to the floor.

As for the removable memory if I remember correctly use of 16GB devices was not supported prior to the introduction of the Smart Operation Panel. You need 2GB devices or smaller. If you cannot find any that small try using a utility such as Mimi Tool Partition Wizard to create a 2GB primary partition.
