[Error Code] Charge cleaning error while turned off - Why?

    Good morning all.

I've noticed this on several machines - customers complaining about SC308 errors even though the charge cleaning cycle is turned off inside service mode.

Can't understand why this happens. Any insight?

    Thank you.

    Any particular model?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

I had this happen to me before on MP9001, MP7500, but right now I'm chasing it on a Pro8100. Cleaning cycle is turned off on SP2221 (NoExec), but arrived right now at the machine to find the corona cleaning carriage midway and the machine with SC308.

Why does it clean the corona when it's turned off? Am I missing anything here?

(As for the real problem, I'm considering the cleaner motor - but turning the cleaning off should be a valid stopgap solution, I think...)

I don't see SC308 listed in the service manual SC306 is cleaner motor defective or disconnected

It's possibly different on other models - this is on the Pro8100.

Thank you, but that wasn't the reason I started this thread.

I fail to understand how, when charge cleaning is disabled on SP mode, the machine still tries to clean the charge unit.

When there's a cleaning error, we can usually tell the customer via phone how to disable the cleaner until we have the chance to go over. But it doesn't work - the machine still gives charge cleaning errors, which I don't find normal.

              Thank you.

I'm talking about the martini series: have you tried to leave the connector of the crown motor disconnected?

anyway i found this on mp9001 sm.

sp-2-803-001 = clean the wire now!

                sp 2-804-001 = auto clean operation > 0=0ff 1=on

sp 2-804-002 = number of sheet (interval first of cleaning) from 100 to 10K

No, that hadn't ocurred to me, as I assumed that, if the machine is trying to clean the corona regardless of the setting, it would still error out. But I'll try it next time I need to disable cleaning.

                  Thanks.

I intend to leave it disconnected to try, it does not generate any error on martini, I left it disconnected last week, on a 9002, which did not reposition it correctly, and generated shadow problems on the drum

Well, I'm just now next to a 1107 that the customer complaints he needs to power cycle the machine in the morning because of a "functional problem". And, sure enough, several SC305 are logged and cleaning settings are set to "NoExec".

What's the point of this setting, really, if the machine keeps on trying to clean?

                      Another Ricoh mistery, it seems...

Hi, I don't have that machine around, but being different from the martini series, the error reporting logics could be different, keep in mind that the crown motor is similar to that of the cleaning web, and therefore we know all its flaws well ... personally I think that when it is connected the resistance is measured, when it is disconnected (infinite resistance) the code is only memorized and not shown on the display (?)

Weird that you would have this same problem on so many different models. I assume they are all high mileage? Have you tried clearing the CH Cleaner Counter on any of the machines?

Or maybe replacing the charge corona.

I think the point of disabling the cleaner operation is to buy time to get the parts and reschedule the call and to not have the customer dealing with a service code every morning.
Wire cleaning takes place before process control so changing SP2-221-001 to "0" should prevent it from running.
I'm curious to know why it doesn't work on multiple machine models.
