MP 2554, problems replacing print controller

Gentlemen, I have a 2554 where lately the machine once it goes into energy saver mode it will not exit unless a forced power off then back on with the main switch. I updated all firmware, still same problem. Trying to replace the print controller, I transfer the nvram to the replaced controller, and I get "SD download required for restoration".
I put the old controller back with original nvram, ( printed all smc data) go to sp 5-824 nv ram upload and "Failed".
Looks to me like corrupted nvram. If I purchase a new nvram chip how do I restore the data, input manually from the smc data ?
Any help on the procedure I should take from here, Very much appreciated

It could be a corrupted SD card or one that is too large. Also you are using slot 2, the lower slot, on the controller and not the one on the panel.

If the NV-ram is corrupted then you have lost everything unless you know the exact addresses to use through FTP.

Sorry, I meant to mention, I'm using a formatted / blank 1GB SD card in the lower slot B.
With power off I insert the card, power ON and attempt to upload to the SD card and it fails.

Can I copy (upload) nvram from another 2554 and download to the corrupted nvram? Then input manually the smc data ?

How was it formatted. If with Windows Explorer that could be the problem.

The NV-ram data from another machine will be totally different. Unless Ricoh has radically changed what is stored on the NV-ram what you will lose is all your counters and service history. If you can still see those most likely the NV-ram is not corrupt.

I had the exact same message on an IMC400. Yes, I confirm that, in addition to the controller, you'll have to replace the NV-RAM, and as slimslob already said, with obvious data loss, especially the counter.
But it's not such a serious problem, it will still work.

Thanks for the feedback, I just tested an upload (different Ricoh) with a different SD card...it completed. The 2554 in my topic functions perfectly once power cycled. Counts and service history are present. I will need to get back to the client and try an upload again with a different SD card. Then restore with a download on the replaced controller.

If I can't do an upload of the current NV-RAM and I need to get a new NV-RAM, what do I download onto the replacement NV-RAM ? ** Obviously I have not dealt with restoring an NV-RAM before

There is nothing you can download. Hopefully you have very recent printouts of counter and service history to keep in your company records.

when new nvram was replaced, the machine will automatic set it to default value, when the machine is on , it will prompt you to setting the admin and supervisor password. then only you can can download your setting through sd card. The meter counter will not be recover and will start with 0 value.
