I have an 8310 that makes a high pitch squeak noise that is intermittent. The noise is originating from the paper transfer roller area, it starts when the roller raises to contact the oppose roller in the Transfer belt unit. I have 2 PTR units and they both exhibit the same symptom when swapped out. They have both been rebuilt recently so I am ruling them out. I replaced the oppose roller and bearing-bushings to no avail. The only thing I have not done is replace the drive motor for the PTR. I realize there is not a lot involved in this drive train but this one has me stumped...TIA "Free-coh"

Re: Ricoh Pro 8310 Noise issue
Sounds like it could be the blade squeaking on the PTR. When the PTR units were rebuilt, were the PTR rollers properly dusted with setting powder? Another thing that has been known to squeak is transport spring in the waste toner system. -
Re: Ricoh Pro 8310 Noise issue
Cheat the doors, then get into service mode input/output mode, run the different motors to see if you can narrow it down.
Take the front cover off the registration unit to get a better look when the motors are running.Comment

Re: Ricoh Pro 8310 Noise issue
Thanks Guys I had already lubed up the units with setting powder and cheated doors to see what motors and rollers are in action when this occurs. The strangest part about it is that it only occurs when PTR lifts and contacts the bottom of the image transfer unit, something about the extra pressure applied to the unit causing something to begin to squeak. I guess my next step is remove different drive gears on the ptr unit to eliminate some things. I have plenty 8100's and 8300's out there and this is the only one to exhibit this problem. thanks for the reply's guys.Comment
