Ricoh 6503 DF not sizing paper correctly

Document feeder will feed LTR paper LEF without a problem. If your turn the paper SEF, it will auto detect the paper as A4, or LGL paper will come up as some other non standard size. All the width and length sensors have been inspected and tested both by Input checks in service mode, and also physically swapping the length sensors. Is this more likely a DF board failure or is it likely that a firmware flash would clear it's brain? Again letter paper LEF feeds fine. Machine has been working fine until a couple of days ago, and get heavy scanning use.

    Thanks for the help

Usually a problem like this is solved by blowing air on the length sensors, but if you can assure me that you have replaced them all (?)....try replacing the wiring

Everything has been thoroughly cleaned, sensors, tires, etc. All the length sensors change state in the SP sensor state check also.

Sounds like you have a corrupted firmware issue. You need to reflash all firmware. Package might work if the corrupted module is not up to date.

Still trying to reach out to someone who has Ricoh credentials to explore a knowledge base article. Called Hytec to inquire with their tech support and he pointed us towards a tech pub with number KB0169234 that sounded like the issue exactly but what the solution was seems far fetched. We were a Ricoh/Savin dealership for a long time but also many years ago. None of our current techs have access anymore to Ricoh knowledgebase to confirm the tech pub, firmware etc. And yes I do agree that we shouldn't have customers under contract for machines we can't really support but that would be just shooting the messenger so to speak if you're thinking the same LOL
