Can we add this to a Ricoh MP C3504?

Have you tried checking the online operation manual? https://support.ricoh.com/bb_v1oi/pu...dex_book.htm#1

I seem to remember where when sending a fax and it detected the first page blank was blank on some models it would prompt you to check your originals before proceeding in case you had the originals upside down.

This series does only detect and alert about blank pages - the removal function was introduced with the IMC series. So the only way is using software for post-processing the files.

Do you know what kind of software would be needed? I've looked up a manual for the IM series and it just shows blank page detection I'm not seeing removal. Can you show me where that's at on the IM series?

I was just told we can add a OCR kit to the copier and that does blank page removal. Can anyone confirm if that's correct? I didn't realize OCR did that.

Adding the OCR option IMHO is not really advisable. When the option is installed and turned on for a scan job, the scanned file is not sent until ALL pages have been processed for OCR recognizable content and that information added to the file. That can take minutes per page. Customers are not happy when it takes nearly a half hour or more to scan a 10 page document. There are software available for computers that can convert at a rate of pages per minute instead of minutes per page, many of them free.

Really? I wouldn't say theres no performance decrease at all but I think the delay for extra processing isn't that bad. Of course it's kind of a "budget solution" compared to kofax based solutions for example.

What free software do you recommend? I do only know software that comed in bundle with different brands like brothers "i print & scan" and you can't use them across vendors.

It probably depends on which machine model the OCR is run on, some machines have really slow processors.

That's probably true - I think the option is available since many MFP generations and probably not much fun to work with a MPC2500 for example^^
