Could it be that the spring pulls the ITB bias rollers downwards?
Or is it just for anti static current removal?
    Thanks in advance.
I'm not shure but it's likely - in this case it should be connected to ground wich would be easy to figure out with a multimeter.
If you take a look at the transfer belt assy can you see the spot were the spring is suppose to have contact with?

Gift, I'm not 100% sure, but i think it's contact with ground, removal of the residual voltage - current...
But still the bias rollers are facing upwards when placing the ITB unit.

Again, this procedure is in the manual.

I'm not shure if you can bent it in to a shape that remains functional - plan B is to replace the contact spring but looking at the parts manual that's probably pretty much effort.

The plan was to practice here on a imc300 which we bought on the internet before going to the customer with a mpc307.
It could be that this spring was already broken before i removed the ITB unit...
Because of the ITB bias rollers facing up i have removed the ITB unit often to solve the upward bias rollers.

Yes this is my thoughts as well . I have had this problem but the spring was fully pulled out and a nightmare to get new part.

Good luck and hope its just reshaping the spring as replacing it is a mission!

I think that spring was already broke when we bought it.
We bought this second hand machine at a cheap price indeed.
                  Now i know why...

Im lucky as most of my machines are on a 3 year or 5 year lease then we upgrade, so when I had the spring problem it was at its end of lease so we swapped it out.

I did strip it right down to the spring and made a mental note to deff not to do that at the customers site and hopefully never see that issue again.
Im very carefull when taking out the ITB and start to sweat everytime I feel any resistance! lol

                    Be lucky
