    DSc424 printing faint copies

    Hi all,

I am working on a DSc 424 Nashuatec Copier. It is printing and copying faint on half a page, while the other half is ok.

Any suggestions on what the problem would be?

There are a couple of areas to check (in order of ease):

    1. Check the developer units are seated properly and making a good earth connection in the black runner grover (this may include vacuming out excess toner etc.) If the lighter area is banded its a good sign that its earthing in the developers.
    2. Check the Laser Glass (at the bottom of the dev tanks) this is prone to toner falling onto it and blocking the beam. This would be a consistantly light area across the page in the direction of the paper feed.

Start there and let me know how you go.

I'll go with one or more knackered dev unit (the norm).

Are all of the colours faint or just black?

You could try cleaning the rails which the dev units sit in - run the machine with the dev unit door open and see whether the dev units move in uniformally on both the left and right or not.
