Hi everyone,
I have an older Ricoh Pro C651EX. I bought it recently for a smaller amount of money.
The printer is from a company that went bankrupt and it seems like the printer had a factory reset before i got it.
As a start the printer worked fine, but now it doesn't pump black toner into the sub hopper.
I contacted Ricoh for professional help, but they refused to help saying that the printer is too old and they don't have spare parts for it. They told me i have to buy a new one..
I then started researching and then i eventually reached out to a printer technician our company has used for other machines. He has 40+ years experience with office machines.
First we tried changing the toner pump. That changed nothing. After that we went to the factory SP menu (Found the code on Google).
In the factory SP menu we checked that the Toner end sensor worked. We also checked via the output options that the toner supply motor and both clutches works.
So with the output options we can manually fill the sub hopper with toner and print for a while again.
Does anyone have a clue about what could be wrong? My technician is almost lost of options as he doesn't have experience with this particular machine. But he's pretty certain it has something to do with the software, not something physical on the printer.
He thinks something was lost in the factory reset.
