    ricoh 1060 jams

looking at the logging data paper jam counter all jams are pointing towards registration 2. av recently changed the feed station rollers and torque limiter. which stopped causing the paper getting caught behind the tandum tray. i have not seen the machine jam itself but whenever it does its either at registration 1 and 2, mostly at 2. how can fix this problem without having to replace the whole feed station?

Replace the one-ways gears on the rear of the feed stations.

Check the developer unit too. There's probably developer puking out the back and grinding down all your feed gears. If so, you'll probably have to replace that as well unless you want to do the whole thing over again in a few months.

If the dev unit rear bearing is worn dev will fall onto feed station(s) but they always make a squealing noise when contaminated. if they are don't waste your time attempting to clean the oneways, just replace them all.

I never met a one-way that became reliable after cleaning. When in doubt, I just replace it.

First, make sure that the registration sensor is completely clean of all paper dust, as well as the relay sensor.

As stated before, check to see if any dv has made it into the gears of the first station.

You'll be spending a lot of time hunting for a reg. cluch as there is no reg. clutch on this machine. A stepper motor drives the reg. section, but there is a black mylar behind the b1 gate that can get worn and cause some jamming problems.

If, after you've cleaned all of the sensors and checked for dv, just do a quick feed station swap and then test, since they are all interchangeable.

                  Nicely said schooltech.

Reg mylars on these are a must for replacing at @1m copies, especially if the customer is using crappy paper. Whip the reg section out of the machine and check them over, you'll probably find they're worn.
