[CQ] MP C407 yellow density problem

Hi All, got a puzzle on a MP C407 with an odd density problem, the yellow print is OK for the first 1cm (quarter inch) then there is a sharp cut off and the rest of the page is at about 20% of the density it should be. There is no gradual fade, the light yellow coverage is even right to the page end. Page counts are 32K black and 41K colors. No error codes. Firmware is engine = 1,09,01 and system = 1,20,1. Error code history only has paper jam at ADF x 3 and that was 3K ago. Things I have tried; replace image units (twice!) replace HV power supply, remove and check laser unit and flexi cables, all good. Visually check the HV contacts and springs all seems the same as the magenta and cyan which work fine. I have the machine in the workshop and have a second machine to use as a reference but have run out of ideas. Any thoughts?

Did you try interrupting test prints and inspect the units to find out if the image density is solid on the drum/transfer belt?

Yes, the image on the belt is faint. If it was loss of charge I would expect the image to fade, but it stays at even density.

Many thanks Gift, You were right to suggest the image on the drum check, image was strong on the drum! I replaced the ITB and problem is gone. Don't know yet what has gone wrong with the ITB unit, it looks OK but I guess the lift roller for Yellow is lifting then dropping away so that is why the first 1cm is strong then faint the rest of the page.

Again many thanks for the idea.
