    Alternate Counter

    Hi everyone.
I have a Ricoh 3003 leasing at a hotel and i am sure that they somehow change the counter. if you print something
it counts normally. But i printed 3000 pages just with some black dots. the counter went up lets say 13.000.
but at the end of the month when i went back to check it was 12.500. i thought it was no possible to do that.
They do have an entire IT department but i don't know how they did it and how i am going to prove it.

    Thanks in advance

It is not possible to 'change' the total counts the only way is to fit a new NVRam but this will reset them to zero.

You can however change the counter to display the development counts, maybe they are doing this ?

Enter service mode, Counting method SP5-045-001 Specifies if the counting method used in meter charge mode is based on developments or prints. "0" change to 1

Thanks for your answer, is there a way they changed the nvram and somehow rich the previous number without printing..? The counter is mechanical something like a switch or infared..?

The counters are entirely electronic and stored in NVram chips. You might want to use one of the other counters available.

There might be one in User Tools - Administrative Tools that further breaks the counts down by total, copier, printer and fax. For some models the fax has to be extracted by adding copier and printer and subtracting from total. It also shows the total pages fed through the DF. If user codes are in use, you can also print totals for individual users.

Then there are the service counters SP 5990-005 to print of SP 5992-005 to output to a memory device.

Ricoh and some dealers rewrite the nvram you can usually tell when this has been done as the parts pm life doesn't match the volume of the machine
