MP 5054 has 5 parallel streaks on output

I had a copier today that had 5 parallel streaks about 2.5 or 3 inches long on either the top or bottom of the page. They seem to be equally spaced and are parallel to the lead edge of the paper. In this case, they are feeding LEF. They are grayish and go from about 1/8" wide at the top and taper to nothing in the 2.5 to 3 inches that they run down the page. These 5 lines are equal distance apart, but was not able to measure them for a roller diameter as I could not duplicate the issue while I was at the call and did not have access to a live copy. Also, the client thought that the majority, if not all, of the jobs had these lines were in the first or second page of the print jobs, but not every one had them. (Just to clarify, these are not the lines we see when the fuser or PCDU are going bad, nor when there is debris on the DF glasses.)

I tore apart the PCDU and cleaned the charge roller (which was not bad at all) and vacuumed out or wiped areas around the seals on the PCDU. I also cleaned up the transfer area and saw no toner spillage anywhere. Neither the PCDU nor the fuser had very much wear if any.

After I left, I was looking at an image of the lines and their direction and thinking maybe it was one of the blades in the PDCU, like the doctor blade or the cleaning blade. Any thoughts? Okay, I whited out any values on the page and hopefully, the problem is apparent.

    Thanks,

Measure the distance between the lines in Millimeters. Compare that to the diameter of the drum and the fusing sleeve.

I had a similar issue happen to me a couple of times some time ago with some generic Type 1027 PCU's I was using for a while.
I seem to remember that replacing just the drum resolved the issue, so I felt that it may have had something to do with the grounding contact inside the drum itself.

Thanks, as I was leaving the call, I was thinking that i should do that with the regular marks. I will try that and see which area pops up.

I had the same type thing today on an MP C3003, turned out to be caused by a mark on the black drum, was arcing when it came around to that spot every time.

Agreed. Looks like drum. Happens to me in areas of electrical surges and fluctuations. Drum will look normal but it was the culprit for me.

Change drum or complete PCU and test.

That kind of defect I had when the Charge Roller, does not rotate correctly on its own supports, and causes a vibration / jump in contact with the Drum.
Try swapping for another good unit. It should not be reproduced.
