Slow faxing and memory full Ricoh MP C6004

    Ricoh MP C6004

I have a medical office that is being audited and the recipient is requiring individual packets of 30 pages each to be sent and they HAVE to be through fax.

They are saying it is taking 20 minutes for a fax of 30 pages to go through. So they did 5 faxes, totalling 150 pages, and the memory is full on the fax and they can't send anything else until it goes through.

They have to do 40 packets by a deadline and have hardly gotten through 5.

I know very little about fax units, is this normal speed for a fax? Is it the machines issue (storage capacity), customer's phone line, recipients phone line?

I'm not sure where to start on this one. Thanks.

What resolution are they being sent at?

High resolution can dramatically increase storage size and sending time, especially on halftone images.

Are there images, shading, noise, a lot of fine text?

These are all things which make for increased send times, as well.

This is all before bad line conditions come into play.

Sounds like they need an email to fax service such as eFax. Fax Online | eFax

If they have the documents on the HIS they can just compose the emails on their computer or for hard copy documents they can scan to email. To the recipients document packets are received as faxes with a reply fax number. Replies sent to that number are received as email attachments. A couple of other senior NCO and I used them when we were in Iraq in 2005.

Then there is slow downs at the destination. ABS tect customer is most likely not the only medical office being audited.

Pretty standard the speed is based on the other fax and line. 30 pages and 20 min sounds right.

They need to send by email or print and mail them. It will take hours to send all there faxes.

                good luck

When an audit team says they want things sent to them by fax, they will not accept anything sent any other way.

                            Lots of other options available

You should call the manufacturers and tell them to stop making the fax option for their machines. Get on it.
