    MP5500 fax malfunction

I just installed a fax option type 7500 on a 5500. I followed the installation guide to the letter. The machine recognizes that the fax is there in both sp modes and user tools, but when I try to access the fax function from the control panel it will not bring up the fax screen. I have what I think is the latest fax firmware installed.

    Fax B2475108F 06.00.00
    FCU B8195571C 04.00.00
    System B2475101R 3.01
    Engine B2475127E 1.11.60

Has anyone ran into this kind of problem?

You have installed the fax button into the correct ops panel hole? (5th one down).

    1, Copier
    2. Document Server
    3. Printer
    4. Scanner
    5. Fax
    6, Java App

    I think I once did that by mistake on a MP6500 without a print/scan.
Force of habbit, was just use to seeing the fax button located in middle.

This can happen if you forget to switch the battery jumper on the MBU board, or if the entire board has come loose.(it's only secured at 2 points plus the connector, and they pop loose all the time.

I 've got the fax key in #5 spot on the op panel. I reseated the MBU and double checked the jumper. It is on the correct pins.

The version I had was 1.13. They specifically addressed the addition of the fax option with ver. 1.19. Good advice, thanks again.

I should have been more specific with the last post I made in March. The firmware I installed fixed the problem.

                      Firmware

We have the same problem with a MP6500 fax option. The firmware needs to be updated. We do not have that firmware and would appreciate it if someone could send the file.
