"loneliness is an invention of the white man, when we are alone we talk to everything around us, we are never alone" (Ojibwa)
Very common with some web pages. Non printable characters such as moving fonts. Often a web page that is not secure. Tell them to preview the page and print from the preview screen. This flattens the document and removes all non printable characters. Also check to see if they are current as far as firmware.
Almost assuredly it's the usual Printing via the WSD port rather than TCP/iP.
I doubt that it matters whether or not it's a PDF from the Web or from their Own HDD
Microsoft Edge, the unspeakable pile of garbage it is, is a cracking cause of stupid PDF printing issues.
Totally agree with TonerMunkeh Edge is useless also make sure adobe is set as the default PDF reader download the document make sure it opens with adobe
also check the port WSD will cause lots of issues

to a client with a similar case, who had acrobat for free, because I installed PDF XCHANGE just to verify that the problem was not my little machine.
Holy remedy
the tips of the seniors are great and you do well to make them, firmware, driver etc
