    MP C3502 - Brand New Black Toner Not Recognized Twice

    Hey guys,

    I bought a brand new toner twice now for MP C3502 however each time I put it in it keeps on trying the tunnel has been depleted.

    Not sure what to do. This is the only machine I have and it worked perfectly fine for last 3 months. Very light use.

    If both bottles are from the same production batch it could be a manufacturing flaw. The other possibility is that the toner bottle detection board contacts have been damaged. Visually compare the black contacts to the one for the bottle next to it. As a temporary fix, set SP 3045 to 1 to allow the C3502 to be operational until the problem is repaired.

      What toner? Genuine Ricoh?
      Could be toner pump, but with the limited info you're providing, we'll NEVER be able to say anything for sure.
      Call a tech.

      BTW.....In my experience, everything ever built works perfectly, until it doesn't.
      What does that have to do with anything? .
      It's a machine. Stuff happens!

              Well just put thew empty bottle back in and if it got detected you might buy the toner from another source - it's likely the chip is for another market region or whatever.
              I'm not shure if the MPCxxx2 uses chips with contacts or "RFID" like chips - in the last case it's unlikely that there is something wrong with the MFP.

              You can also try and cheat if you use the old chip on the new cartridge - machine will probably display near end condition at all times for the entire life-cycle of that cartridge.

                If when you take the toner out & refit it can you hear the machine whirring etc trying to add toner ? if yes then most likely you have a failed toner pump or a blocked pipe.

                  The 02s are the models that used the contacts.

                    I'm think you're right with the pump, for some reason I read "toner could not be detected" in that blurry image but is says depleted wich I can now read after having my first coffee

                    MFP should art least try and load that toner for a while of course - that'll be typical for a pump issue.

                      With SP 3045 to 1, the machine will ignore the count stored on the chip and for the black toner will only determine toner out based on the value of VT-VTREF. ProCon will run every time power is turned on, it comes out of sleep or a door is opened and closed. If the problem is with the chip system the machine will continue to work using the TD sensor to determine VT. You just will not get a toner low warning.

                      Also I noticed he mentioned that the C3502 was light use. An indication of a possible clogged toner tube. New pumps from Ricoh come with the correct length tube for color you order the pump for. After market pumps might not.

                        This worked and calling in tech now to come over and look at the issue. Thank you guys for a quick help. The machine is quite old and we are in the process of getting a new one ordered.

                          Time for a "Black Pump Unit" new if you never changed one.
                          C3502 has @ least 8 years , you can try do vaccum the tube but for 50$ I prefer to put new one and earn time and no more headaches.
