    sc992

Good morning everyone. I got the SC992 error on a MP9002SP.
According to the manual, it's something very generic, it talks about firmware and board, but this is not normally the case, anyone had experience with this error?
    Thanks.

In my service manual is doesn't say anything about any board:
Undefined Error (No SC Code) GW
An error not controlled by the system occurred (the error does not
come under any other SC code).
      • [*=1]Software defective
[*=1]Turn the machine power off and on. The machine cannot be used until this error is corrected.
        [*=1]Re-install firmware

What parts of software defective and re-install firmware do you not understand?

Did this code appear soon after any other seemingly unrelated code(s), such as SC 540 for instance? The idea seems to be that undue load on motor (like web) can induce noise causing problems that will be indicated with the SC 992. If you can replace the suspected motor, you might correct the SC 992(?)

Make sure the machine has System/copy firmware 1.09 or higher. Check/replace the fuser web motor and clean/replace thermistors.

If you installed a new style web motor you have to change the holder for it or it will short to ground and continuously run. There is tech pub on it.

I tried to update the firmware, but I already have in the machine the latest version available (1.17), and when I choose all the files to update and hit #, the machine tells me that the update is done, that is, it must detect that the firmware that is on the SD card and on the machine are the same, and does not overwrite it.
Is there any way to force it to overwrite it even if it is the same?

I went in yesterday and did a format of the hard disk and so far it is working fine.

That doesn't mean diddly shit when you have a corrupted firmware. The service solution from the service does not say "Update," it says "Reload." That means that you load up an SD card with individual modules and then select every module to install.
