3rd Party Apps on IM C3000 SOP

    Hi,

Has anyone succesfully added any 3rd party apps to the SOP on one of the IM C ranges?

I know someone has said no in the past but that was a few years ago now. But thought id just see if some clever so and so has cracked it.

    Thanks in advance..

    PS happy New Year..

I personally would not even try any app that is not approved by Ricoh solutions.

Dean. You are the Dirty Harry of engineers, in this business for over forty years! You've got this. Let NOTHING stop you. If I were you, (...and I'm not...) I would find the dodgiest most obscure app I could find, load that bitch onto your Smart Op Panel and throw caution to the wind, THEN ask yourself, "Do you feel lucky? Well, do you punk?"
BTW. I too heard in the early days of these new panels, that since they were essentially Android tablets, you could load most any apps you wanted to. However, I have never tried to do it, nor have I heard of anyone else doing so. Looking back at Ricoh's own track record of poorly vetted firmware and problems caused by their own apps, I can't be too concerned with trying what you are speaking of. I would not use any client's machine, though.

OK so this CAN be done however you do need to extensive Android programming knowledge.

I was up at Ricoh HQ in London they installed an Angry Birds JAVA game for demo purposes.

It would be useful to get the gmail app for example installed on the SOP.

Use the browser that is part of the SOP and go to play.google.com and search apps for gmail. See if it will allow you to download it.

Thanks guys... Varied answers.. Love it.

It was for a DCA client so we didnt have to buy nooks, raspberry PI etc etc to collect meters and toner information and put them on the back of each device. Personnaly using the email from the device and doing an email scrape would be easier and safer. But you do have to live on the edge sometimes.
