Have machine that jams a little out of the fuser right before the exit rollers. jam code is 31 for double feed. It will jam with one copy or multiple. The copier is not multi feeding. One thing I did notice is after the jam is cleared the display says paper in tray one does not match the setting. I can job reset or paper loaded to clear and it will print a couple more and jam with same message. All the settings for the paper tray are correct. I am leaning towards the paper size detector pin set in the front where drawer paper size knob pushes against. The bypass works fine no jams. Just wondering is anyone has seen this before. No I have not updated firmware yet. Just seeing is someone has had it before getting to involved with it. I did find it in the Ricoh tech site but they never gave a final fix.

Re: mp501 Jamming
Paper size is the most likely culprit, it's expecting, say 5.5", and feeds 11". Can you manually over-ride the auto settings to force the correct paper size on that model? -
Re: mp501 Jamming
Is there a sheet of paper already started out of the paper? If so where is its lead edge? It could be static build up on the paper causing the next sheet to be pulled too far out of the tray and getting a relay or the registration too soon. Very common with paper trays with friction pads instead reverse roller separation. Replace, cleaning only helps for about 1-2 days unless they are cork friction pads, then maybe a week at best.Comment

Re: mp501 Jamming
Isn't it the one with a kyo engine? I think these actually have sep rollers in the tray and I know that kyo did a modification on the holder assy for that roller to prevent paper feeding issues.
Can you provide a picture of the holder installed? I can tell if it's old or new style.
On the other hand - if it jam with a 1page job it's kinda unlikely unless no second sheet passed the feed due to bad separation.Comment

Re: mp501 Jamming
I went back yesterday with a new tray and paper size selection switch assembly I took off a junker.. After replacing both it worked. I am guessing the sensor was causing the problem and that's why it was saying to check paper size after the jam. I am not a big fan of this copier. I hate the snap together cases. But its working and they are happy and so am I.Comment

Had to do a HDD yet? What a ballache. It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

Hi, similar to P801 , had exact same issue , paper size kept changing , replaced the paper size switch - the paper size error stopped .
Theres also an RTB for the P800 regarding the green plastic holder for the feed rollers :
the part of the green holder that flags the sensor needs to be coloured black with a permanrnt marker.
