Here in EU (at least in my country) this does not work this way since many, many years due to Ricoh's cutting costs mentality. There aren't any regional support specialists left anymore and the newest stunt is that they shut down most of their tech support hotline capacity and force you to use Ricess. You might see support on site at some point but that'll be a random direct tech in most cases.
But in this case there is no reason to claim a Ricoh visit - they would definetly say the demand is not meet by the specification and I can't blame them for that.
