    Crossover cable

Hi, All I must be having a slow brain day. I have need to hook my laptop directly to a MFP, but it has been many years since I have done this, and I do not remember the procedure. Can someone refresh my memory?
    Thanks.

Ok, but I know I am supposed to change some IP settings on the laptop for this to work.

Yes Sir make it like for example:
        MFP: 192.168.100.5
        Laptop: 192.168.100.6
In more simple words add 1 to copier IP address and set this as laptop IP.

If you get a 5 port switch you don't need a crossover cable.

Also the switch will tell you if you have a link light as some new equipment doesn't have the light
